SUCCESS STORIES

Person Hands Protecting Family Home

A New Beginning

As the Director of the Center for Family Services (CFS), I was genuinely astonished to find that our work has garnered attention beyond Crawford County. Recently, a faith-based organization in Harrisburg expressed a keen interest in replicating our services in their community. This recognition highlights the unique and holistic approach that CFS employs to foster wellness within our community.
At CFS, we are committed to addressing the multifaceted needs of individuals and families. Our approach goes beyond offering mere transactional assistance; we provide transformational support that creates profound, positive changes in the lives of those we serve. Our comprehensive range of services—including counseling, re-entry programs, and family education—ensures that each person receives the tailored support they need to overcome immediate challenges and thrive in the long term.
A compelling example of our impact is the story of a mother of three who sought our help last year. She had been homeless for six months, enduring the hardship of living on a porch, in a tent, and then in a camper. Despite her dedicated work ethic and prudent financial management, she found herself in a dire situation, feeling defeated and on the brink of surrender.
Upon her visit, we took immediate action by reviewing her credit report, assessing her budget, and connecting her with Stephanie Turner at Elevation Mortgage. With our support and guidance, she engaged with a realtor, and through perseverance and the assistance of our staff, she and her children were able to move into a stable home. This new beginning provided them with the stability and security they desperately needed.

Hello,
I don’t know if you remember me. My name is SS. My friend, Jess, and I met with you because I was homeless with my 3 children last year. I was running out of hope and could not find any help until we met with you. You kindly looked up my credit report and suggested I call Stephanie Turner with Elevation Mortgage. After that, I contacted Stephanie and found a realtor, Samantha Blount. After 6 months of living on a porch, in a tent, and then in a camper, we finally moved into a house at XXXX XXX Street in Meadville. I want to thank you. It doesn’t feel like enough just to say thank you. Homelessness was a situation I never thought I would experience, despite always working hard and managing my finances carefully. After searching for help everywhere and facing many setbacks, I was feeling defeated and ready to give up. You provided the first step I needed and the hope to get back on my feet. Thank you so very much!
