FAMILY EDUCATION
Special Outreach Services (S.O.S.)
Our Special Outreach Services (S.O.S.) offer preventative programs designed to support individuals and families dealing with mental health challenges. Participation in these programs is entirely voluntary, and clients seek assistance on their own accord—no one is mandated to take these courses. Currently, the Center offers two key programs: Parenting and Anger Management. These programs are tailored for individuals or family members who are experiencing mental health afflictions, such as anxiety or depression. Mental health diagnoses can be self-reported by the individual.
-
- Parenting Program:
This program provides preventative education for individuals with a mental health diagnosis who are facing parenting challenges. We assess each family’s unique situation, building on their strengths while offering guidance and support in areas such as discipline, time-outs, structure, routine, and managing unwanted behaviors. The goal is to empower parents with the tools they need to succeed.
-
- Anger Management Program:
This program helps individuals, particularly those with a mental health diagnosis, learn to regulate their emotions, understand their triggers, and improve conflict resolution skills. The program also explores the fight, flight, or freeze response as it relates to trauma-induced anger.
For more information, please contact Shelby Klingensmith at (814) 337-8450. We’re here to provide supportive and caring assistance during challenging times.
One-on-One Anger Management Counseling
Anger is a natural and often healthy human emotion. However, when anger becomes uncontrollable, it can damage relationships, impact your work and personal life, and reduce your overall quality of life. Our counseling program is designed to help you recognize unhealthy anger patterns and develop the skills needed to prevent anger from negatively affecting your life.
About the classes:
- The course includes two classes, each lasting three hours. Our counselor is flexible and will work with your schedule to ensure you can complete the sessions.
- Although typical anger management programs may take up to 10 weeks, we respect the value of your time and aim to offer an efficient but thorough experience.
- You will also be expected to complete reading and homework assignments outside of the sessions to enhance your progress.
- Class Fee: $300.00.
- Court Report: $100
- Consultation w/Attorney: $55
- Appear in court: $55
This One-on-One Anger Management Counseling assists individuals, particularly those with a mental health diagnosis, in regulating emotions, understanding triggers, and improving conflict resolution skills. The program also addresses trauma-induced anger through the concepts of fight, flight, or freeze.
Our goal is to support you in developing healthier emotional responses and creating a positive path forward in life.
